Port Sandfield Swing Bridge Rehabilitation to Start in September
Expect Full and Overnight Road Closures with Detour in Effect
September 8, 2020 (Muskoka, ON) – The Port Sandfield Swing Bridge on Muskoka Road 7 (Peninsula Road) in the Township of Muskoka Lakes is scheduled for required maintenance this fall – a two-week full road closure and nightly bridge closures will be scheduled to expedite construction. Motorists are advised a significant detour will be in effect during the road closure period.
The Port Sandfield Swing Bridge is a single-lane movable structure, therefore scheduled full road closures will be required to effectively complete the work. The District recognizes the public impact of this closure and length of detour, and are working together with our partners to allow construction activities to continue into the late evening and overnight to accelerate the work.
The District encourages residents to plan alternate routes and follow posted detour signage when traveling through the Port Sandfield area this fall. The District is working with the contractor to allow for pedestrian access during construction, signage will be posted onsite and updates will be posted on the District of Muskoka’s website.
