Media Release - Winter Storm Operations Update – December 1
MUSKOKA LAKES, ON – In response to the ongoing winter storm, the Township is opening warming centres in Milford Bay, Port Carling, Torrance and Raymond. Warming centres will be open until 7:00 pm, and are equipped with bottled water, showers, and power for charging devices.
All Township roads are open and clear however, crews are still out working,
While the storm continues, please exercise caution:
- Stay off the roads and limit outings to essential travel only. If you need to travel, please drive according to the weather and road conditions, and take the necessary precautions to ensure for a safe journey;
- Limit your exposure to extreme cold temperatures and be sure to check on vulnerable members of the community;
- Clear snow away from blue 9-1-1 civic address signs to ensure emergency services can find your home in the event of an emergency;
- Ensure outside vents for all fuel-burning appliances are clear of snow and ice. Portable generators should only be used outdoors and carefully located to ensure exhaust fumes do not enter the home;
- Have your 72-hour emergency kit prepared to support you and your family for at least three days.
