Media Release - Winter Storm Operations Update #2 - December 1
MUSKOKA LAKES, ON – While the power is still out in many places across the township, a reminder that if you or someone you know is in need of assistance due to a lack of power/heat, please call 705-765-3156 and press 0 to speak with the operator. If residents are in danger, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
For updates on the power outages, visit outages.lakelandpower.on.ca and the Hydro One Storm Centre.
While the storm continues, please exercise caution:
- Stay off the roads and limit outings to essential travel only. If you need to travel, please drive according to the weather and road conditions, and take the necessary precautions to ensure for a safe journey;
- Limit your exposure to extreme cold temperatures and be sure to check on vulnerable members of the community;
- Clear snow away from blue 9-1-1 civic address signs to ensure emergency services can find your home in the event of an emergency;
- Ensure outside vents for all fuel-burning appliances are clear of snow and ice. Portable generators should only be used outdoors and carefully located to ensure exhaust fumes do not enter the home;
- Have your 72-hour emergency kit prepared to support you and your family for at least three days.
