Media Release - Covid-19 Updates to Township Services

MUSKOKA LAKES – In response to the Province’s decision to place the Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit into the Red-Control Zone effective Tuesday, February 16, 2021, the Township is pleased to advise that certain services and facilities will again be available to residents of the Township for limited use.

The Port Carling Arena and select Community Centres will commence the re-opening process and will be available for limited use effective Friday, February 19, 2021. Users will be required to comply with all of the applicable restrictions imposed by the Province’s Covid-19 Response Framework  and any additional requirements of the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. As a minimum, users will be required to adhere to physical distancing requirements, group size restrictions and staggered start times. Staff will work with user groups to re-open, safely and gradually, including following all guidelines provided by the governing Provincial Sports Organizations.

In addition, the Township of Muskoka Lakes has resumed the releasing of building permits for construction sites within the Township. Outside pick up will continue to be available at the Public Libraries. Other Township facilities, including the Municipal Office, Bala Arena, Fire Halls and Public Works Yards will remain closed to the public. Township services continue to be offered online through the Township website, email and over the phone where possible.

The Township of Muskoka Lakes is working closely with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and other community partners to monitor the global situation regarding Covid-19, and to respond accordingly.
