Media Release - COVID-19 Update: Township Provides Long Weekend Reminders
Muskoka Lakes – With the Victoria Day long weekend fast approaching, the Township of Muskoka Lakes would like to remind residents that provincial orders to stop the spread of COVID-19 remain in place.
“With the long weekend approaching we must work together as a community to beat this virus. Continue to practice social distancing, respect all property owners, show appreciation for our frontline workers and most important isolate when possible,” says Mayor Harding. “We are all in this together and together we will get through this.”

Fire Ban
The Province has implemented a Fire Ban across Muskoka, which includes the Township of Muskoka Lakes, effective 12:00 a.m. on April 3, 2020. With a fire ban in place, all open air burning, fireworks, and campfires are not permitted. For after-hour reporting, please contact 705-765-3156 Ext. 261. For emergencies, please call 9-1-1.
Boat Launches & Marinas
Municipal boat launches remain open at this time. The Ontario government announced marinas, boat clubs and public boat launches may open for recreational use as of Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.
Facility Closures
All Township facilities remain closed to the public until further notice.
Outdoor Amenities
Outdoor recreational amenities such as playgrounds, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, beaches, skateboard parks, picnic areas, outdoor community gardens, and park shelters remain closed.
Trails and green spaces in parks remain open for walk through access, but residents are reminded to maintain the safe physical distance of at least two metres apart from others. The Ontario government has re-opened provincial parks and conservation reserves for limited day-use.
Gatherings
In accordance with the Provincial Emergency Order, gatherings of more than 5 people are prohibited. Please do not host or attend gatherings that are not in accordance with the Provincial Order.
Township Services
Municipal Office services will not be available on Monday, May 18, 2020 due to the Victoria Day holiday.
The Township of Muskoka Lakes is working closely with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and other community partners to monitor the global situation regarding COVID-19, in order to protect our employees and community. Further information is available from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit or the Government of Ontario COVID-19.
The Township will update the Muskoka Lakes Website with any changes to Township services as a result of COVID-19.
