Media Release - COVID-19 Update - Township Outdoor Recreational Amenities Closed
Muskoka Lakes – The Township of Muskoka Lakes is extending closures to outdoor recreational amenities effective immediately following the new emergency order made by the Province of Ontario on March 30, 2020, to close recreational and outdoor amenities.
The closure includes: playgrounds, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, beaches, skateboard parks, picnic areas, outdoor community gardens, park shelters, and other outdoor recreational amenities. Township staff will post signs at all locations throughout the community advising people to refrain from using these areas until further notice. Green spaces in parks and trails remain open for walkthrough access, but residents are reminded to maintain the safe physical distance of at least two metres apart from others.
The Township of Muskoka Lakes is working closely with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and other community partners to monitor the global situation regarding COVID-19, and to respond accordingly. The Township will continually update its website at www.muskokalakes.ca with any changes to Township services as a result of COVID-19. Further information is available from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit or the Government of Ontario COVID-19.
