Media Release - Township of Muskoka Lakes Long Weekend Reminders
MUSKOKA LAKES – With the Victoria Day long weekend fast approaching and the Province of Ontario announcement about Reopening the Province, the Township would like to provide the following long weekend reminders:
Fire Rating
The fire rating is currently set to HIGH. No daytime burning is allowed. Fireworks are not permitted. Burn permits will not be sold. For emergencies, please call 9-1-1.
What’s Open
Public Boat Launches: Municipal boat launches remain open at this time.
Trails: Trails remain open for walk through access, but residents are reminded to maintain the safe physical distance of at least two metres apart from others.
Outdoor Amenities: Outdoor recreational amenities such as sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds, beaches, skateboard parks, picnic areas and park shelters are open. Please be advised that these amenities are not being sanitized. The public are asked to follow provincial guidelines on physical distancing by maintaining minimum of 2 metres between individuals and wash or sanitize your hands before and after each use.
Public Washrooms: All Township public washrooms remain open.
Port Carling Locks: The Port Carling Locks remain open. Hours of operation and fees can be found at www.muskoka.on.ca.
Libraries: Outside pick up will continue to be available at the Public Libraries.
What’s Closed
Facilities: All Township facilities, including the Municipal Office, remain closed to the public until further notice. Township services continue to be offered online through the Township website, email and over the phone where possible.
Please be advised that municipal office services will be closed on Monday, May 24, 2021 for Victoria Day.
Public Health Order Violations
If you have a specific COVID-19 related complaint such as social gatherings or a non-essential business open, please contact OPP 1-888-310-1122.
The Township of Muskoka Lakes continues to work closely with and follow the advice of, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and other community partners to monitor the global situation regarding COVID-19, in order to protect our employees and community. Further information is available from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit or the Government of Ontario COVID-19.
The Township will update its website at www.muskokalakes.ca with any changes to Township services as a result of COVID-19.
